  • Summarise large data sets with PivotTables, slicers, timelines and PivotCharts
  • Apply descriptive statistics, correlation, regression and forecasting
  • Choose and design effective charts and build an interactive dashboard
  • Design, print and export professional reports, and protect and share workbooks safely
  • Complete a full analysis and reporting project from messy data to finished report

Requirements

  • A computer or laptop with Microsoft Excel installed (Excel 2016 or later; Excel 2021 or Microsoft 365 is best for the dynamic array lessons)
  • Basic computer skills such as opening files, typing and saving
  • Some familiarity with Excel (entering data and simple formulas) is helpful but not essential
  • Practice data sets are created in the lessons, so no special files are needed

About This Course

This course teaches data analysis and reporting in Microsoft Excel for people who already know the basics and want to work like an analyst. Rather than showing features in isolation, each section builds toward practical skills used every day by NGOs, cooperatives, schools, banks, health programmes and businesses in Malawi: cleaning survey exports, summarising sales and prices, tracking targets, building dashboards and writing reports that decision makers can trust.

You will learn to import and structure data in Excel Tables, clean text, dates and numbers, remove duplicates and prevent errors with validation, and automate cleaning with Power Query. You will master formulas and functions including SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, IFS, XLOOKUP, INDEX and MATCH, date functions and the dynamic array functions FILTER, SORT and UNIQUE. You will summarise large data sets with PivotTables, slicers and PivotCharts, apply descriptive statistics, correlation, regression and forecasting, and design clear charts and an interactive dashboard. Finally you will format, print and export professional reports, protect and share your workbooks, and complete a full market prices and cooperative sales project. The course ends with an end of course exam.
